Episode description

Fireside chat on the emergence of a new economic occurrence that history has never seen. Both Ethereum and Bitcoin have experienced hard forks which have not only changed the consensus rules of their network, but have also given prior currency holders a financial stake in both the old and new blockchain. While we have always had a history of competing money, for the first time ever, we are seeing the ability to introduce a new monetary system that is bootstrapped with the holders of the prior system. We'll discuss and define these recent and upcoming forks and project how they might make an impact that our digital economy has never seen. Discussion is taken by Paul Puey (Co-founder & CEO at Airbitz), Elizabeth Stark (Co-founder & CEO of Lightning) and Steve Waterhouse (Co-founder of Orchid Labs Inc.) -- In 2017, Slush brought together 20,000 attendees, including 2,600 startups, 1,500 investors and 600 journalists from over 130 countries. The cold and dark Helsinki welcomed these tech-heads to a week long celebration, including Slush Music, new Slush Y verticals, and hundreds of side-events and activities around the city.
