Sifted covers European startups through company profiles, technology news and questions about how fast-growing businesses operate. Fintech and AI feature prominently, but the selection also considers workplace culture, public relations and the measures companies use to describe growth. Regional coverage of the Nordics, DACH and Central and Eastern Europe gives the channel a geographical focus within the wider startup conversation.
Short company features sit alongside news roundups, interviews and event previews. Profiles of businesses such as Flatpay and Tendium put individual growth stories in view, while a discussion of fintech's interest in annual recurring revenue examines the language used to evaluate those businesses. Reporting on former Pleo employees' accounts of company culture adds an organisational question to coverage that might otherwise centre on funding and expansion. The mix invites attention to how a startup works as well as how quickly it grows.
AI funding stories and interviews about revenue ambitions connect the European focus with larger technology debates. Practical subjects, including public relations for startups, provide a different entry point for people building their own companies. Founders, startup employees and readers of business news can use the channel to follow which firms and issues are receiving attention and to compare the narratives surrounding them. A regional ranking offers one view, an executive interview another, and reporting on internal tensions a third. The result is a selection concerned with the business reality around technology: money, positioning, people and the evidence behind a growth story.

This week on the podcast, host John Thornhill is joined by Uljan Sharka, the founder and CEO of Italian AI unicorn Domyn.
Uljan migrated from his home country Albania to Italy back in 2008 — without knowing a word of Italian. He soon developed a fascination with tech, later working for Apple in Silicon Valley. In 2016, he launched Milan-based Domyn, a company developing AI models and agents for enterprise use cases, as well as AI gigafactories.
The pair discuss the virtues of small language models, why Domyn is building a 1GW supercomputer and what founders can learn from Revolut’s Nik Storonsky.
