Episode details
Episode description
Trump's first impeachment - 2020 Speaking on the Senate floor on Feb. 5, Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., explained why he would vote later that day to convict President Donald Trump of the articles of impeachment. “To my Republican colleagues, I have frankly found it difficult to understand why you would continue to so fervently support a president who has repeatedly and publicly invited foreign interference in our election,” Coons said. After the Senate voted last week to bar new witness testimony and subpoenas for documents, Trump’s acquittal has seemed all but assured. The House of Representatives impeached Trump in December on two articles of impeachment--abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
