This video marks the centenary of the First World War, as conflict in Ukraine looms large, and a decade since the EU's biggest-ever enlargement. It shows the Union's leaders still striving toward the opportunities of a common future; always bearing in mind national political concerns and never forgetting the lessons of the past. It contains interviews with the first-ever President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, the President of Lithuania, and senior EU officials.
