WATCH: Ukraine was pressed to investigate Bidens by Trump and associates, Garcia argues
Episode details
Episode description
Trump's first impeachment - 2020 President Donald Trump pressed Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son on a July 2019 phone call, Rep. Sylvia Garcia, a House impeachment manager, argued on Jan. 22. Speaking on the Senate floor during Trump's impeachment trial, Garcia said the president's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani and his associates also conducted a coordinated effort to pressure Ukraine. As part of House Democrats’ arguments against Trump, Garcia, D-Texas, outlined the evidence for her claims, which included testimony from U.S. foreign policy officials and Giuliani’s own tweets. The House of Representatives impeached the president in December on two articles — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The Senate trial will determine whether Trump is convicted of those charges and removed from office, or acquitted.
