WATCH: Trump obstructed Congress by blocking a dozen witnesses, Lofgren says- First impeachment
Episode details
Episode description
Trump's first impeachment - 2020 President Donald Trump obstructed Congress’ investigation into his conduct by blocking at least 12 witnesses from testifying, Rep. Zoe Lofgren, a House manager, argued in the impeachment trial on Jan 24. After spending two days laying out the case for the first article of impeachment — abuse of power — House Democrats spent the better part of Friday making the case for the second article of impeachment, obstruction of Congress. Lofgren argued that many of the potential witnesses, including acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, have first-hand information that could aid the inquiry. The House of Representatives impeached the president in December. The Senate trial will determine whether Trump is convicted of the two articles of impeachment and removed from office or whether he is acquitted.
