WATCH: Lofgren urges Senate for more evidence in Trump impeachment trial | Trump impeachment trial
Episode details
Episode description
Trump's first impeachment - 2020 Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., urged senators on Jan. 21 to approve an amendment that would require more evidence from the White House be submitted in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer proposed the amendment to the resolution that governs the Senate trial. “A trial without all the relevant evidence is not a fair trial. It would be wrong for you senators, acting as judges, to be deprived of relevant evidence of the president’s offenses,” said Lofgren, a House impeachment manager for the Senate trial. Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in December on two articles — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The trial will determine whether Trump is convicted of those charges and removed from office, or acquitted.
