WATCH: Campaign to oust Yovanovitch was done on Trump’s behalf, Nadler argues- First impeachment
Episode details
Episode description
Trump's first impeachment - 2020 Rep. Jerry Nadler, a House impeachment manager, argued before U.S. senators on Jan. 22 that the effort to oust the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, was done on behalf of President Donald Trump. Nadler laid out the evidence, which included phone call records, regarding a scheme spearheaded by Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani. Democrats argue Trump wanted Yovanovitch removed because she would oppose his desire for Ukraine to investigate the Bidens. The House of Representatives impeached Trump in December on two articles — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The Senate trial will determine whether the president is convicted of those charges and removed from office, or acquitted.
