Do Sanctions Against Russia Really Work? – Simon Jenkins & Anna Reid | Intelligence Squared

In this excerpt from our thought-provoking debate 'Sanctions Against Russia Don’t Work, Journalist Anna Reid and writer Simon Jenkins passionately discuss whether sanctions have the desired impact or if they fall short of their intended goals. Simon Jenkins argues in favour of the motion, highlighting the historical track record of sanctions failing to produce the desired outcomes and causing unintended harm. Anna Reed, on the opposing side, presents her case against the motion, pointing out how comprehensive sanctions have impacted Russia's economy, currency stability, and even potential limitations on Putin's actions. What do you think? Are sanctions have their desired effect upon Russia? Or are they causing more harm than good? Leave your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below!
