Episode details
Episode description
Connecting Europe Days is Europe’s mobility flagship event, taking place from 28 September to 1 October 2026 in Brussels, Belgium. It brings together politicians, financial partners, industry representatives, transport stakeholders and the European Commission to discuss concrete measures to create a competitive, resilient, safe and sustainable transport sector in Europe. On 29 September, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen gave a speech at the event. In her speech, she highlighted Europe’s key transport goals: complete a truly European network by closing cross-border gaps, removing bottlenecks and investing in rail, roads, waterways. Europe also wants to lead in transport innovation by scaling up clean and smart technologies such as high-speed rail, electric trucks, and charging corridors . Finally, she pointed out that the sector must build infrastructure that is climate-resilient, fit for a more volatile world, and able to connect future members such as Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkans more closely to the Union.
