Adrian Wooldridge: Centrists of the World, Unite!
Avsnittsinformation
Avsnittsbeskrivning
Author and columnist Adrian Wooldridge discusses the origins, evolution and future of liberalism. Since its emergence during the Enlightenment, liberalism has undergone a series of transformations, but its underlying principles of individual freedom, tolerance, open debate and the limitation of power have remained central. As populism gains ground and political divisions deepen, Wooldridge argues that liberalism must adapt once again. Can it rediscover its capacity for reinvention and offer a convincing alternative to political extremes? Wooldridge explores how liberal societies might balance individual freedom with security, trust and a renewed sense of community. The interview was conducted by historian and writer Paul Lay. It was recorded in June 2026 at Engelsberg Ironworks, Sweden, during the seminar On Political Order and the Future of Democracy.
