This NEW Excel Feature Changes Everything About Cells

Microsoft changed one of Excel’s most fundamental rules by allowing a single cell to contain multiple values as a true list. Unlike comma-separated text, Excel recognizes each item individually, so functions such as SUM, AVERAGE, COUNTA, filtering, and newer functions like HAS, HASANY, and HASALL can work directly with the values inside the cell. The new FLATTEN function can also extract list items into separate cells, making it easier to create unique lists or analyze relationships such as sales reps and their clients. Lists can also be combined with dynamic array functions, XLOOKUP, GROUPBY, and PIVOTBY, allowing spilled results to be stored inside a single cell and used in more advanced calculations and reports. There are still some limitations, including no support for Find & Replace within list items, data validation dropdowns, or PivotTables. Microsoft is actively working on improving support for these features.
