Can memes warn us of war before the first shot is fired? Ukrainian meme researcher Ievgeniia Bondarenko, a professor at Kharkiv National University, believes military experts are not the only ones who can see war coming. In conversation with Dīvs Reiznieks, she explores what makes Ukrainian memes distinctive, why they are often not meant to amuse, and how they differ from Russian memes.
