Patton Oswalt On Comedy, Privacy & Staying Human

Patton Oswalt has spent decades turning everyday observations into unforgettable comedy. But in a world where everyone is expected to be online, visible and constantly creating content, finding the quiet space to actually notice things has become its own challenge. In this episode of Forbes Talks Shop, host Spencer Dukoff sits down with the comedian, actor and writer to discuss the realities of building a creative career in the modern media landscape. Oswalt shares how a stand-up special comes together, why abandoning proven material is essential to growth and how notebooks, stage time and everyday moments continue to fuel his work. The conversation spans comedy clubs, screening rooms and life on the road as Oswalt reveals the products and rituals that keep him grounded. He talks about his love of PG Tips tea, his go-to pen, TUMI luggage, ebooks, DVDs and why watching movies with an audience still feels magical. Oswalt also reflects on voicing Remy in Ratatouille, the financial advice that helped him maintain creative independence and his ambition to direct his first feature film.
