De la Soare și găuri negre până la un microrobot care se deplasează în corp, Cleo Abram explorează știința prin întrebări concrete și situații care stârnesc curiozitatea. Spațiul cosmic, geografia, aviația și tehnologia se întâlnesc într-o selecție de explicații despre fenomene greu de observat direct. Punctul de plecare este adesea ceva familiar, precum un avion sau o furtună, privit însă la o scară ori dintr-un unghi mai puțin obișnuit.
Unul dintre subiecte urmărește felul în care funcționează un avion destinat experiențelor de imponderabilitate; altul întreabă de ce anumite zboruri urmează aceeași linie. La scara cosmosului, apar o furtună mai mare decât Pământul și scenariul unei apropieri de o gaură neagră. Peisajul terestru are, la rândul său, loc: dimensiunile Antarcticii și descoperirile ascunse în Amazon oferă alte puncte de pornire. Episoadele sunt construite în jurul unor întrebări de popularizare, iar varietatea lor permite trecerea de la mecanisme fizice la explorarea unor locuri sau la cercetare experimentală.
Există și teme aflate la granița dintre biologie și tehnologie, precum cercetarea asociată mușcăturilor de șarpe și utilizarea unor roboți foarte mici în interiorul corpului. Un episod despre o problemă controversată de matematică completează această curiozitate pentru lucruri care nu au o explicație imediat intuitivă. Canalul se adresează privitorilor care vor să descopere întrebări științifice fără a porni de la o singură disciplină. Since I was a kid, I had a big question: “WHERE are all the aliens?”
Still, as an adult, I desperately want to be alive when we discover real extraterrestrial life! And I don’t mean the conspiracy theories, well-meaning but totally wrong science fiction. Or even “the math says there should be someone somewhere”! No. The real science.
I want to know… how are we ACTUALLY going to find aliens? Because if we want to be alive when we find them… cosmically, we don’t have long!
So, I reached out to one of the most important scientists in the search for intelligent life outside our solar system… and who is leading a new effort to find alien life INSIDE our solar system too…
In this episode, we’re going to show you the real science and tech behind the incredible push happening right now to actually find aliens.

Cleo Abram is an Emmy-nominated independent video journalist. On her show, HUGE* If True, Cleo explores complex technology topics with rigor and optimism, helping her audience understand the world around them and see positive futures they can help build. Before going independent, Cleo was a video producer for Vox. She wrote and directed the Coding and Diamonds episodes of Vox’s Netflix show, Explained.
