When you ask people what they want to work on, anger management is consistently top of the list. The most common misconception is that venting or engaging in physical activity is the best self-regulatory strategy. However, research shows that these activities actually increase anger by raising arousal levels; instead, the most effective approach is to stop, drop, and roll: to pause, calm your body, and move forward with your day with a clearer mindset. A professor in the school of communication, Dr. Brad J. Bushman has studied aggression and violence for over 30 years. He was a previously a member of President Obama’s committee on gun violence, and has testified before the U.S. Congress on the topic of youth violence. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
